Nothing OS 2.5.6 Is Here

The Nothing Phone (2) is a unique smartphone that’s designed to be a sleek and powerful Android skin. It’s got all the basics that you’d expect from a stock Android experience but has plenty of extras that help elevate it. The device has a host of features, including addressable LED zones that can be used to track an Uber booking or a food order on Zomato. It also has a dedicated camera app that’s designed to give you all the controls you need for a high-quality photo and video shoot. And, it’s backed by a robust battery that delivers all-day performance on a single charge.

Nothing has promised three Android Nothing OS 2.5.6 for Nothing Phone 1 version upgrades and four years of (bi-monthly) security patch updates for the Phone 2. And, it’s started rolling out the latest update to its devices, bringing new features and improvements. The Nothing OS 2.5 update is based on Android 14 and brings several changes to the UI, Glyph interface, and more.

This update has a total size of 535MB, and it brings many useful enhancements to the Phone 2a. Users will now get direct access to the Glyph Interface’s music visualisation feature, and you can now directly set your network via Quick Settings without unlocking the device. Other highlights include better call and network quality, improved game dashboard FPS, and optimisations for the Glyph interface.

There’s also an option to hide the navigation bar by long pressing on a widget, and a new setting has been added to enable or disable haptic feedback from the power button. Moreover, you can now choose between the normal or a more compact ringtone for notifications. You can also opt for the custom ringtone for calls and SMS, and you’ll see new options in the Quick Settings menu to select a specific theme for each category. There’s a new option to automatically lock the phone after a short time of inactivity, and you can also now optimise the sound quality for USB earphones.

This Nothing OS 2.5 upgrade also comes with an update to the Android calendar that adds a timeline for meeting and event reminders, as well as a feature to display upcoming events on the home screen. Other tweaks include a new option to automatically disable the back gesture on your screen, an improved Wallet app with multiple payment methods, and more. This update is now rolling out to all Nothing Phone 2a users worldwide. You can check the OTA status on your device by going to Settings > System > Software Update. Please note that the OTA will take some time to reach all devices. Once it arrives on your phone, you can download and install the new update. Enjoy!
